Tile Behind Wall Hung Toilet

Will be using grohe geberit frame mounted in a half height stud wall but the frame will be bolted to the wall and floor.

Wall finished over concealed toilet unit with white subway tile mounted on cement board tile backer. We have just completed a makeover on our bathroom and we too hung our vanity on the wall after we tiled the whole room though. Cement board used to sheath wall over concealed toilet tank. We did have a hard time boring through the vanity the tiles the villaboard and the hardwood studs but we got there in the end.

You also need to know. I don t want tiles behind the toilet but have had conflicting advice as to if the toilet can be mounted back to painted plasterboard skim. The tile is not the strength. I want to install a wall mounted toilet.

It means tiles don t have to be cut to awkward shapes to fit and also means there is a layer of tile under the toilet that will protect the floor from water should the sealant fail. If i were to wainscot i would omit any drywall where the toto mounting plate bracket goes and use quality 1 2 or 5 8 ply behind the wainscot and id span it out a few stud bays. Install the plumbing connections and mount the toilet bowl with the wall finished the next job is to connect the toilet bowl to the wall and plumbing. The process starts inside the wall cavity with proper blocking first.
